ZSL (Zoological Society of London) partnered with Content Creatures to create a series of animated training films designed to educate companies operating within soft commodity supply chains.
These compelling animated films promote sustainable sourcing of raw materials such as palm oil, rubber, and timber, while addressing key environmental and social challenges including deforestation, traceability, and gender inequality. By using animation, these films make critical environmental and social issues accessible, equipping businesses with the knowledge to implement sustainable practices.

A Two-Tiered Approach to Training
To deliver comprehensive training, we created two distinct types of videos, each designed for different levels of depth.
By combining long- and short-form formats, the training materials reinforce key messages across multiple touchpoints. The long-form films provide an in-depth exploration of sustainability challenges, ensuring professionals gain a thorough understanding of the subject.
Meanwhile, the short-form videos serve as engaging, attention-grabbing content to spark interest. They also act as reinforcement tools, offering bite-sized refreshers that keep key learnings top of mind.
1.Short-Form Explainer Videos
Concise, 2-minute animations that focus on critical sustainability challenges, including biodiversity, deforestation, external verification, geospatial data, grievance mechanisms, supplier engagement, FPIC (Free, Prior, and Informed Consent), traceability, living wages, and gender equality.
Designing for Clarity and Impact
Working within ZSL’s established brand guidelines, we crafted a visual style that was both engaging and informative. To maintain clarity and reinforce key messages, our approach included:
- Bold and Dynamic Typography: Key points were highlighted with impactful type animation.
- ZSL Brand Elements: Incorporating ZSL’s signature textured circles and white ring animation to frame information.
- Clean, Flat Design: A modern aesthetic ensuring clear communication.
- Distinct Colour Combinations: Leveraging the ZSL palette to differentiate topics and enhance visual clarity.
2.Long-Form Training Films
Approximately 45 minutes in length, these in-depth videos cover key sustainability topics such as tropical forestry, natural rubber, and palm oil.
